Central-West Orana
Project Overview
The NSW Government is creating the State's inaugural Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) in the Central-West Orana region, covering about 20,000 square kilometers around Dubbo and Dunedoo. This area belongs to the Wiradjuri, Wailwan, and Kamilaroi communities
Our involvement
● Preparation of environmental management documents for the Contractor engaged for the construction of the Central West Orana project.
● Strategic planning and approval advice, design and program review.
● Ongoing involvement in the implementation of environmental management processes during construction.
● Providing guidance to the Construction Team and on-the-ground management as required.
HumeLink
Project overview
HumeLink is a significant energy project involving a new 500kV transmission line connecting Wagga Wagga, Bannaby, and Maragle. The project spans approximately 360km of new transmission lines and includes upgrades to three substations. This initiative aims to enhance electricity delivery across the National Electricity Market, making it a priority project for the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and the Federal and NSW Governments. The project is anticipated to bring $491 million in net benefits to electricity customers.
Our involvement
● Preparation of environmental management documents for the Acciona Genus Joint Venture for the construction of the HumeLink project
● Strategic planning and approval advice, design and program review.
● Ongoing involvement in the roll-out of training and the implementation of environmental management processes during construction.
Western Harbour Tunnel
Project overview
The Western Harbour Tunnel and Warringah Freeway Upgrade is a major project in Sydney that aims to make travel easier, faster and safer. It will create a new route around the city center, reducing congestion on key bridges and roads.
Our involvement
● Prepared two suites of construction environmental management plans for Acciona Construction Australia, who is delivering this Project on behalf of Transport for New South Wales.
● Erran Woodward is engaged as the ongoing Environmental Approvals Manager for this Project.
● Providing strategic advice on delivery of and compliance with the Project Environmental Protection License, Planning Approval and recent Project Modification.
Sydney Metro West Central Tunnelling Package
Project overview
Sydney Metro West Central Tunnelling Package delivers two 11-km tunnels as well as the excavation of five station boxes at Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock and The Bays. This new underground metro railway will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, with a target travel time of about 20 minutes between the two centres.
Our involvement
● Provided services to the Central Tunnelling Package in the role as Environmental Manager for the first twelve months of construction of the Project.
● Meeting key project deliverables such as approval of the Construction Environmental Management Plan and the commencement of works within a very challenging timeframe.
● Provided services assisting the delivery of environmental management as described in the approval documents on the ground.
WestConnex
Project overview
When complete in 2023, WestConnex will provide motorists with a continuous 33-km traffic-light free motorway network, with connections for future projects linking the North Shore and Northern Beaches, Sydney airport and the southern suburbs. Mostly underground, WestConnex is freeing up large areas in communities that are being turned into 18ha of parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities. In addition, WestConnex is delivering and planting more than 1 million trees and plants.
Our involvement
● LAW staff have been involved across multiple Projects across the total WestConnex program, including WCX1A – M4 Widening, WCX1B - M4 East, WCX3A - M4-M5 Link Tunnels and WCX3B - Rozelle Interchange.
● The services provided by LAW included as Environmental Manager, Environmental Approvals Manager, Approvals and Community Manager, and Urban Design Manager
