WestConnex Stage 1A: M4 Widening

Project overview

The first of the WestConnex projects, the M4 Widening delivered upgrades to 7.5 km of the M4 Motorway from three lanes to four lanes in each direction between Parramatta and Homebush. Completion of the M4 Widening and connected WestConnex packages were anticipated to reduce travel times during peak periods by 14 minutes in the eastbound direction and six minutes in the westbound direction.

Our involvement

• Environment Manager / Compliance and Approvals Manager: Provided environmental leadership and compliance support to the Rizzani de Eccher–CPB Joint Venture during delivery of the M4 Widening.
• Prepared post-approval consistency assessments to assess proposed design and construction changes against the project’s planning approval.
• Supported project leads in addressing environmental requirements and managed environmental compliance across the project.

Period of involvement: September 2015 to February 2017.
